Former Prosecutors Challenge White House Immunity Claim
_____________________________________________________________________
Maybe Michelle Malkin does "deserve a break today"*,
but "What Happened" by Scott McClellan
does not. Neither does the subtitle:
Inside the Bush White House and Washington's Culture of Deception
Maybe the Boston Globe has taken the Keffiyeh Kerfuffle(which I did not know was a title to one of her pieces) too seriously. But that does not mean they deserve a bad wrap.(poor pun) Having found a bit more on the story I will link here and here for later. (But I may not return as I believe the later touches my point on marketing, and what may be viral.**)
* I have no stock in Mc(anything), actually some stock, but not in McSame, or fear of change or a bad wrap.
** what ties this in, apparently fear of wraps, and keeping things under your kerfluffle.

"no such thing as bad press"
Except Michelle Malkin. Or Fox News.

Memorial Day passed.
I did observe Memorial Day in my own way, as did many Americans. First I observed it by not writing about it. Then I remembered my two grand fathers and fathers and uncles that served in WWI and WWII respectively. But mostly my grandfathers as they have both passed on. It is a day that has apparently evolved and in my mind been diluted. Originally it was Decoration Day, observed May 30th, and now it is a three day weekend marked by the Indy 500. But more important, Armed Service Day and Veterans Day observe those that serve or have served and Memorial Day should not be a day when politics hides behind those that serve now or co-mingle the troops with the media.

Straight Talk Express?
Or Real Clear Politics
(nfry)But do I have to? Or should I hit The Trail?
Which would be "politic"? The good thing is that at least the former is only his words, and the latter is not his fault for being more viscious but will there be more course talk? I mean will it still be there when I get around to reading it?
Flash analysis: Filibuster, Flip-flop and appeasement Fridays. OK. David Bender is discussing The New GI Bill on The Rachel Maddow Show, and his theory is that the president will veto the bill to give the Republicans cover to run from him. I don't believe I got that right. I may have switched course midstream, and need to check back later.
But a point not lost is that the Republicans have flip-flopped on the filibuster from trying to abolish it to using it without using it on every vote. Meaning that the Democrats have appeased the Republicans on the rules. It is political but it is about progress. It was also not necessarily the point Bender was making except for the potential flip-flop on a veto.

DOEE (Dept. of Everything Else)
Thomas Barnett [***] YouTube presentation
The Pentagon's new map for war and peace
Having viewed the video several times, I am rather encouraged about his approach, as long as it is taken as broadly and evolving as he intends it. In that regard there are some weaknesses in his rhetoric when it comes to the U.N., the World Bank, the G20 and what he calls the Kantian[*] world. In what I call the outcome and the input or more broadly the rules and the process, we probably need more than bifurcation. He has separated force from administration, and it is in the latter that more work and input may be needed. In that regard I will hold up for now and provide a template that has been suggested more immediately and specifically for the mess we are in, due to some of this thinking not being applied in the first place. A Responsible Plan to End the War in Iraq. **

The Pentagon's new map for war and peace
A friend sent me this, very optimistic, and saw it as so non-political. Fine. How does this come about? How do we create a "New Leviathan" albeit, calling it "New Everything Else"? This is fine as long as we realize it is political or it is the same old thing, otherwise know as the battle between realism and idealism.
Transparency and secrecy do have their distinct applications,(especially in war and diplomacy) but accountability and rules are in the getting there. (Power is not good or evil only results are and even they are seen from more than one perspective.)
A-to-Z rules focused on dealing with everything? How does one get them? Of course that is not the idea. Excusing based on result, is that the excuse? Hmmm. He has some good metaphors. Networking force? Where does it start? Where does it end? Security? Funny?
I think that he has some good points, but it all could be hinged on a point the world would love to get to, and they would all love to be there, to be the decider. I do not minimize the need for something, and he points to many good ideas to separate expertise and responsibilities, but I would emphasize that there is much more to talk about that may need the same (or better) analysis. There is a "heckuva" lot of work getting the world to see that there is somehow going to be a "new world order", no matter who brings it about and what it is brought about for. And there is no denying the current balance of powers and just wishing or demanding or excusing them away.
This is a good approach for the military, the rest may be everything else. Including looking at how we came to learn this lesson and whether it was already plain to too few.

Flip-Flopper-Crafting
--------------------------------------------------------
Replete and Ripe with Flip-Flop.
Lost in translation or other pages of history or myth?
--------------------------------------------------------
Earlier references to confusionism were more than just a play on a typo
but less than what has now been googled or falls from the tower of babel.
It is ironic that our troops are doing the "hard work" because our media has so poorly served and continue to Flip-Flopper-Craft. (Apparently ABC or someone there sees that they are serving the administration akin to troops.)
I must note that several of these links are (nfry) - Not fully read yet.
--------------------------------------------------------
Hint: The media was been part of a mis-translation not only of Farsi but English, and the irony is that it goes back a ways, and is still going on. One could say that it is the "root of all evil" in what regime means and what is to be feared of change or knowledge.
[No disrespect to hermeneutics or true believers of old.]

Ditto
It works!
As projected.
[I have heard but have not researched and had earlier thought that Project Chaos might just backfire, as an inverse to the 50 state strategy and state and party rights. By this I mean, that I am uncertain of the mechanics and regardless of the impact and dynamics of the competing theories, if any Republicans were cheated out of their ability to vote for Republicans that they could have if they were not gaming the system, it would be hard to imaging that it could happen, but someone probably has. After this convoluted ramble, I think not. It may have backfired in the long run, but not so clearly for the time being.]
[5-17-08: the embedded point here is that the focus on crossover distracted from some races that were in-play, costing the Republicans seats. It could have been the publicity and a get out the vote for Dems, which is my own double-edged theory. Project Chaos and/or Hillary staying in, had a get out the vote effect along with a vaccination for negative campaigning or as one conservative writer called it, "positive polarization". Apparently the Republicans have been spinning since before FDR was put in his grave. No disrespect, but that is that plays into it too well. The "new deal" and the so-called media.

[In a statement, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., shot across the bow: "It is sad that President Bush would use a speech to the Knesset on the 6Oth anniversary of Israel's independence to launch a false political attack. It is time to turn the page on eight years of policies that have strengthened Iran and failed to secure America or our ally Israel. Instead of tough talk and no action, we need to do what Kennedy, Nixon and Reagan did and use all elements of American power -- including tough, principled, and direct diplomacy - to pressure countries like Iran and Syria. George Bush knows that I have never supported engagement with terrorists, and the President's extraordinary politicization of foreign policy and the politics of fear do nothing to secure the American people or our stalwart ally Israel."]

Earlier Rant or Ramble (and back)
Better to flip-flop than to completely flip or flop.
Judge and re-judge thyself,
lest thee be Re-judged and De-judged.

(The links were added as after thoughts, or post script. I now find a core theme for these seemingly out of the blue thoughts. Bold inserted hypocrisy -(?) and thanks to GoLeft.TV below.)
Compelled* or expelled ** for flip-flop, my point is that it turns on politics.
*to go on... stated plainly flip-flop is explained by nuances and if nuance is not applied will be hypocrisy or just flip-flop. Long story short: Nuance is just flip-flop, while flip-flop can be just hypocrisy. But justice is not just _ _ _ _ ! (fill-in or leave blank)
But underlying this duality, is that politics is not a dirty word! No more than is power or money, but it is about having a choice and better than choosing between tyranny and anarchy. Using it or loosing it may have bearing, but will not indicate ones bearings.
A careful look at Barack Obama's bearing, as well as his choice of words and their meaning will highlight what will be found in the dictionary under bearing(s) [especially the 8th]. There is no reference to age or marbles or balls except as in page, carriage, heritage and language, unless one digs into heraldry and a likely escutcheon but as a pilot McCain should know better and not be so touchy and defensive. Or is it just offensive?
** Mocumentary and stranger yet later and more, and surfing the net.
[5-14-08: In trying to shore up a weak link (one of the above did not connect) I found a stronger link to what started this offensive narrative(McCain claiming Hamas endorses Obaba). Stated more correctly McCain endorses Bin Laden in his argument for his bearing down on Iraq. Of course this is just a trick of words, but the emphasis is on the trick and the focus should be on the meaning, and the tack. (A midcourse correction saved me from a tactical(no technical)error with tact) Specifically of course it is about our course and the choice between A. Obama's tact and B. McCain's tack and how we deal with attacks or a tact.]
[ 5-14-08: Since this originally seemed out of the blue, here is one out of the red (nfry) to be "fair and balanced". ]
(?) 5-14-08: even I can't recall the reason for the "bold insertion" reference unless I'm lost in italics but hypocrisy is noted in the out of the red above. And now I add a spin for the ages titled E Pluribus Nixon and a note on "positive polarization" and find irony in having a bearing without a (w)hole or a shaft to spin on.

"A flip-flop should be no handicap."
Richard Dawkins points to his own flip-flop on Amotz Zahavi's Handicap Principle [*] and how it fits in with his own theory in The Selfish Gene. The point is not that anyone has a handicap, but that those that do, must be actually more successful to survive or are selected by a mate (or voter) for that reason. However, the traslation from the math to the biology to the sociology has a handicap. The math. Most people will follow a meme whether they follow the math or the meme. Meaning they will follow a leader whether they know the meme or they are just mean. But flip-flopping on a meme, does not mean the results will be progess.
If this has not been followed I will leave it anyway. Politics is not science, science not a religion, and religion is not faith. Faith is another story.[**] But cost is a reality that can't always be calculated and takes more than economists.

The double-edged conspiracy actually works. Rush is not only covering for the "rats leaving the sinking ship" but in trying to get Hillary as the nominee, as the lighter of the two democratic candidates, gives us a more weighty candidate. Meaning do they really think that Hillary is easier to beat or just covering their bases if she wins? And do they really fear Obama as a candidate or do they think he would be the one to beat? In the end, the turnout is Confusionism. Not to be mistaken for confusing but more mama* nature and fusion. Maybe the con has backfired. But in the end there will be more registered voters, if they get counted.

Investigations are called for:
And I add:
This seems to be a violation of the freedom of the press as well as the so-called free market. It should prove that profit and news at least on public airways be separated for all and good or at least that the free market is not anymore free than the press and both are failures.
